D'Alvara British Cattery

Our Colors

At D’Alvara’s British Cattery, we are passionate about producing the elegant, refined look British Longhair colorpoints are adored for — with an intentional focus on blue eye expression and timeless contrast. Our program emphasizes shaded and chinchilla expressions with silver and golden tones, creating a soft, luminous body color paired with striking point contrast that highlights our cats’ brilliant blue eyes and luxurious coats.

Our breeding program focuses on coat clarity, balance, and plush fur that give our cats their unforgettable, wide teddy bear eye expression. Each one of our colors has been chosen for its depth, harmony, and how beautifully it complements our cats’ brilliant eyes and plush, soft coats.

Our Color Varieties

Seal-Based Points

A classic, rich point expression with darker contrast on the face, ears, legs, and tail. This look provides deep, traditional point depth balanced against a pale shaded or chinchilla body.

Blue-Based Points

A softer, dilute point tone that layers elegant slate-blue contrast over refined body shading. It maintains clear contrast while offering a cooler, gentler aesthetic.

Lilac-Based Points

A rare and refined dilute that produces pale, delicate point coloration with a soft, cool finish. Reserved for quality and clarity, it complements both silver and golden expression beautifully.

Coat Patterns

We specialize exclusively in two classic coat expressions, each known for the way color is distributed along the hair shaft.

Shaded (11)

About one-third of each hair shaft is tipped with color.

The rest of the hair remains lighter toward the base, creating a soft gradient effect.

The result is richer and more dimensional than a chinchilla, yet still glowing and refined.

Chinchilla (12)

Only the very tip (about 1/8) of each hair carries pigment.

The rest of the hair shaft remains a clean, pale cream or golden tone.

This creates the lightest, most “frosted” look — bright, silvery, and luminous.

Coat Expression

Silver

In silver expression colorpoints, the body appears cool, icy, and bright, even as the points develop in depth and contrast. The silver base lightens the overall appearance, creating a crisp, luminous body color that enhances contrast at the mask, ears, legs, and tail.

On point cats, silver expression results in:

  • A pale silver to white body

  • High contrast points that remain clean and defined

  • A cool-toned overall appearance

Golden

Golden expression colorpoints display a warm, luminous body tone that ranges from soft ivory to a gentle champagne hue. Unlike silver, golden expression introduces warmth into the body while still preserving clear, elegant point contrast.

In point cats, golden expression produces:

  • A soft, glowing body color

  • Balanced point contrast that appears warmer and softer

Golden expression pairs beautifully with shaded and chinchilla patterns, creating a luxurious finish where the body remains light but warmly toned as the points continue to develop.
